Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer, BPS Office of Human Capital 2019-03-24T01:38:12+00:00

Job description:

Boston Public Schools (BPS) is looking for a dynamic experienced professional for the job of Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer to support the district’s efforts to attract, hire, retain, and develop the highest quality educators as possible. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Capital Officer, the Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer will serve as the Chief Human Capital Officer’s primary thought partner around key decisions and strategies. The Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer will serve as member of the Office of Human Capital leadership team and must be a visible leadership presence in the office that staff can turn to when the Chief is not available. In addition, the Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer will oversee teams responsible for leadership development, performance management, and staffing.

The Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer works very closely with the Chief Human Capital Officer to establish and execute strategy in performance management, leadership development, and strategic staffing, focused both on individual school needs as well as those of the central office. Cultivating a performance management culture would establish expectations on school leaders to support their staffs in the improvement of instructional quality. Improvement in instructional practices would occur both through focused and in-depth support for educators and by holding ineffective educators accountable, thus making the educator evaluation system more of an accurate representation of instructional quality in a school.
