Behavioral Science & Innovation (BSI) at Maritz is a center of excellence that tests, applies, and surfaces behavioral science insights throughout our client solutions. This team creates interventions, experiments, and partnerships that help Maritz remain a visible leader in designing for human behavior in the modern marketplace. Our team is hiring for a Behavioral Science Expert. Below are the job details.


This Behavioral Science SME will work with Maritz’ Behavioral Innovation Director and Chief Behavioral Officer to support the continued expansion of professional services at Maritz. This client-facing consultant will conduct discovery exercises and design (and implement) behavioral interventions with various teams across the company. Your projects will be diverse, including designing new customer loyalty programs, creating the employee engagement platform of the future, and developing new ways to solicit and integrate customer experience data into company strategy.


Support professional services teams across Maritz as they expand their consulting offerings. Serve as a client-facing behavioral science expert who can conduct research, identify key problems and intervention points, create and prioritize potential interventions, deploy interventions and analyze results to demonstrate causality/client value.

Support business development efforts by identifying existing opportunities for behavioral science expertise as well as supporting proposal response and client meetings.

Engage with the development of new products and services to ensure they are grounded in behavioral science.

Reporting and Working Relationships

Reports to the Behavioral Innovation Director on the Behavioral Science and Innovation team.

Highly matrixed; will be embedded with designated Maritz professional services contacts within business units.

Collaborates closely with all members of Maritz Behavioral Science and Innovation.

Primary Responsibilities

50%: Client Engagement – Support diverse businesses and clients in a client-facing capacity to conduct discovery activities, perform data analysis, develop behavioral interventions, design experiments to test efficacy, report results, and support implementation. Spread your knowledge of behavioral science and inspire the use of behavioral science internally and externally. Employ strategic thinking combined with the ability to execute – develop research and strategy where the pathway is not always obvious.

25%: Business Development – Support business development opportunities to identify, qualify, and win new work delivering behavioral science solutions. Evangelize for behavioral science within the appropriate lines of business.

25%: New Products and Services – Develop consulting tools by leveraging appropriate methodologies and frameworks from the behavioral science literature. Contribute to an innovative and insights-driven culture by supporting colleagues as they learn how to conduct their own studies and gain insights about their customers. Assist with product and process development to ensure that all Maritz solutions are grounded in behavioral science and oriented towards continuous improvement.


  • Deep understanding of behavioral science and psychology; experience applying those concepts in a consulting context to produce client deliverables
  • Superb written and oral communication skills with ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it in an engaging way
  • Ability to engage effectively with a wide range of people, including senior executives, academics, sales people, and clients
  • Capable of balancing priorities of simultaneous projects and demands
  • Excitement and interest in building the capacity of the teams you support; an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Master’s degree 5+ years of experience in a behavioral science-related role Experience designing and running experiments

Location: St. Louis, MO. May involve frequent travel.
