Job description:

Columbia University, School of Professional Studies (SPS) seeks candidates to serve as a part-time Lecturer for the graduate-level course Cognitive Bias & Enterprise Risk Management. This course offers a foundation in the growing field of behavioral economics and related disciplines and their r eal-world consequences, with a focus on application of what the field has learned about cognitive biases to both traditional and value-based enterprise risk management (ERM) approaches. Following this course, students will be versed in the terminology, concepts and technical aspects of the behavioral economics framework, they will be able to identify and account for various cognitive biases, and will be able to apply this knowledge to the assessment, management and communication of enterprise risk through exposure to various case studies.

  • Lead class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussion. Attend all class sessions.
  • Monitor and address student concerns and inquiries.
  • Evaluate, grade student work and assessments.
  • Conduct office hours.

Desired Skills and Experience
Columbia University SPS operates under a scholar-practitioner faculty model, which enables students to learn from faculty that have outstanding academic training as well as a record of accomplishment as practitioners in an applied industry setting.

  • Graduate degree, with a preference for a PhD, in behavioral economics, applied psychology, or behavioral science.
  • Expertise in behavioral economics and cognitive biases.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years teaching experience in a university setting at the graduate level.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in an applied setting
  • Doctoral degree that is directly related to the subject matter of the course.
